Working together on social sustainability

Key to the Social component of our sustainability strategy is our aim to be an inclusive workforce, workplace and marketplace, by creating an environment where everyone feels they belong.
In September 2022, we launched our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy and continue to build a strong, purpose-driven work culture. Additionally, we ensure we work with suppliers who are completely aligned with our commitment to respect and protect human rights.

Embracing everyone equally – diversity, equity and inclusion

We love our diversity – it’s what makes us stronger. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) are important themes at Adevinta and a key social component of our sustainability strategy. We bring an inclusive lens to everything we do and want our employees to be valued for their differences. To support this, we raise awareness of fundamental DEI issues throughout the year within Adevinta and we’re proud of how we compare to other companies in this space.

Creating a roadmap – the Adevinta Gender Audit

We’re always keen to expand our understanding and find new angles on how we can support our colleagues. We started a new initiative and conducted a Gender Audit in collaboration with an external gender consultant from Gender Rise. The audit aimed to gain a full and realistic picture of Adevinta’s gender-related issues in several fields: Rewards; Talent Development; Performance, Merit and Leadership; and Culture. The results have enabled us to build a clear roadmap, setting us up to take future action on this theme.

Grassroots movement – Adevinta 4 Everyone

Everyone deserves to have their voice heard. That’s why Adevinta for Everyone (A4E) is a cornerstone of our commitment to DEI. It’s our internal grassroots movement, comprising 20+ employees from across different Adevinta locations. The A4E members act as local representatives of the DEI agenda, by organising events and raising awareness in their marketplaces about DEI-related matters.

Collective responsibility- Sustainable Supply Chain

In Adevinta, we have an ethical responsibility to respect and protect human rights. This also applies to our supply chain. Most of our procurement activity is for the provision of services, such as IT and professional services. A smaller part relates to physical products such as ICT equipment and office supplies.

We’re keen on continually improving our supply chain. To complement the Global Procurement policy, we launched a Supplier Code of Conduct policy and a Sustainable Sourcing policy in 2022. We also started developing and integrating a process that analyses our suppliers from a risk, compliance and sustainability perspective. This includes conducting a high level Human Rights Assessment to map our suppliers and ensure they are aligned with Adevinta’s policies. This allows us to proactively identify and address any potential negative impacts of our operations and contribute to a more sustainable and just society.

Norway Transparency Act

On 1 July 2022, the Norwegian Transparency Act (the “Act”) came into force. The Act provides that companies should:

  • Conduct human rights due diligence in their own business operations and value chain.
  • Be publicly accountable for their due diligence, including their procedures and identified risks.
  • Provide information upon request.

Adevinta is committed to being open and transparent about how we conduct our due diligence and promote respect for essential human rights and decent working conditions. We reject modern slavery in all its forms and are committed to maintaining and developing appropriate safeguards against the mistreatment of people within our business and supply chain.
