Risk Management

Navigating the Risk Landscape at Adevinta

At Adevinta, we operate in a dynamic landscape, facing various risks as we grow and evolve our products and technologies to enhance user experience for our customers.

We negotiate this landscape with the guidance of our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. This crucial tool helps senior management make risk-informed decisions that align with our strategic goals.

Our risk landscape is divided into three main categories:

  • Strategic Risks: These could affect our strategic vision or our ability to meet key objectives and investments.
  • External Risks: Risks from the external environment, such as macroeconomic/geopolitical challenges, or competition.
  • Operational/Functional Risks: Risks impacting the daily operations of our marketplaces and corporate functions.

Through comprehensive risk assessment processes, incorporating both Top-Down and Bottom-Up perspectives, our ERM framework helps identify and address significant risks to our objectives.

The Board of Directors oversees the ERM framework, with the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) overseeing risk management activities. Bi-annual Top-Down risk assessments involve the Risk Team evaluating principal and sub-risks with Risk Owners. The outcome of the assessments is presented to the Audit & Risk Committee (ARC), including current risk exposure and trends.

All leaders are tasked with risk management in their areas, fostering a risk-aware culture. An annual Bottom-Up assessment by the Leadership team pinpoints operational risks in each vertical/function..

Both the Top-Down and Bottom-Up assessments ensure continuous scrutiny throughout the risk management cycle, proactively safeguarding our ability to meet our goals.
